So, I just found out that Melinda is due in the BEGINNING of September, and not the end of September. This means I should have spent the last few days knitting her blanket - NOT knitting the gnome hat in One Skein Wonders as a Christmas gift.
Now what to do? I have the hat knitting done. I still have to make the tassle and crochet around the edges. And I think I'm going to make I-cord ties as the hat has no ties, and one year old girls need ties on their hats. Do I finish the hat while the momentum is going? And if I do, should I weave in all the ends on Joey's hat?
Maybe tomorrow I'll take a picture, and post it, and that will help me decide what to finish!

Joshua Matthew
Family friends welcomed their son, Joshua Matthew into the world yesterday - 3 months early. Joshua weighs 2 lbs, 5 oz, and is doing well in the NICU. I don't know what doing well really means for him - he seems to be breathing on his own and he is pink in color. But, I'm sure he's still in for a long haul, and I can't imagine how his parents must be feeling.
So, I knit him a hat. All babies wear hats in the hospital, and the ones the hospitals provide are usually a yucky yellow color sleeve taped shut at the top. Happy people supposedly are healthier, and having happy people around you can't hurt. I figured a cute little hat will bring smiles to people. I took the picture next to a tube of lipstick, so you can get an idea of how small a 3 lb. preemie hat is.
Please keep Joshua in your prayers.

Smocked Sweetie
Here's a picture of the Toddler Sundress I made for my daughter. The pattern was in Creative Knitting. The smocked part is actually really easy - you make ribs, and then tie them together! I made it a size larger, because I wasn't sure how long it would take me to knit it, but it didn't take too long. My mom ran some elastic thread through the top, and the straps are shorter, and it fits little girl pretty well.

First Post
Well, here it is - my first official post. I really hadn't considered setting up a blog - although I like reading everyone else's. However, I finally found a knitting exchange to sign up for - and I'm not eligible because I don't have a blog! So, we'll give this a try and see how it goes.
I'm currently working like mad to finish a baby blanket for a friend. It's a beautiful pattern called Primrose that I found in a knitting book of my grandmother's - sorry, I don't have the book handy to give the publishing info. It's easy too, but I'm TIRED of working on this blanket. I think smaller projects are the way to go for me!
